Business Survey
Each year, the Wayne County Business Council sends a mailed and web based survey or over 3000 participating businesses in the county. These surveys provide invaluable information regarding the state of specific business issues in the county.

Introduction
This report presents the results of the Industrial Survey conducted from early June to August 31, 2010 by the Wayne County Business Council. The ultimate objective of the survey was to become aware of business owners’ thoughts regarding Wayne County business operations (i.e. economic development, County leadership and planning efforts, as well as business and political responsiveness to small business issues, etc.), and the resulting effects on small businesses in the areas of employee and revenue growth, assistance, and available support.
The responses are to be used to determine how best to address existing issues from the perspective of better communications and the initiation, development and implementation of plans aimed at specific County problem areas. Answers to questions were analyzed to determine the areas requiring attention.
Survey Questions
The survey was adapted from one previously developed for the University of Wisconsin and tailored to address the Wayne County business environment. It consisted of 32 questions, the first 19 of which are addressed in Part I of this report because they are answered with one of the four standard responses explained below. These show the extent to which respondents understand specifically what is occurring in their business environments. The correct answers are highlighted in red below for each question. The table that follows was compiled from the responses received.
The remaining questions (20-31), covered in Part II, seek the respondents opinions regarding their businesses and how they are affected by the Wayne County business climate. Question 32 requested the respondent’s zip code so that assessments may be made for specific areas.
Survey Information
There were 2370 surveys sent to WCBC members, and a total of 54 respondents (2.3% response).
