Past Business After Hour Events

January 2012American Red Cross

Thank you to the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross for hosting our January Business After Hours event.  It was a cold, snowy evening but the dice were hot at the Craps table that was run by the Walworth Lyons Club.  There was a lot of networking and socializing while we enjoyed a buffet provided by Parker’s Grill and Tap House.  James Love, CEO, gave us an overview of how the Red Cross has been helping in Wayne County.  We all know how important the Red Cross is to our community.  Their Annual Vegas Night on January 28th was, hopefully, a huge success. Watch for blood drives coming to your area.  See their website for more information:    www.WayneCountyRedCross.org

November 2011Young Sommer Winery

Thank you to Young Sommer Winery for hosting our November Business After Hours event. The beautiful Autumn weather was continuing to hang on for the drive to Pultneyville. Herm Young shared the story of how his “retirement project” has grown and keeps him busier than ever. We all seemed to appreciate the “fruits of his labor” as we sampled some award winning wines. Silgan Containers proudly announced that they are continuing to grow and that manufacturing jobs are available. Marie, at Edward Jones Investments, assured us that it is possible to retire (and stay retired!) in today’s economic environment.

September 2011Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum

Thank you to Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum for hosting our September Business After Hours event. It was a beautiful evening to tour the gardens on the grounds of the Lighthouse and have refreshments on the front porch. For those who ventured up the wind-ing staircase to the top of the tower, they were not disappointed. The view was fantastic! We got to meet some new Americorp VISTA volunteers from WayneCAP and learned of some jobs available at Cornell Cooperative Extension. We were all impressed with the knowledge of the museum volunteers as they gave us a history of the Lighthouse and Sodus Point. The Lighthouse Museum welcomes over 25,000 visitors each year. They host a popular summer concert series and a 5K run. Some weekends are already booked in 2012 for weddings under the flowering arbor overlooking Lake Ontario. If you haven’t been there yet, put the Sodus Bay Lighthouse Museum on your list of places to visit. They will be open through Oct. 31st. Check their website for hours - www.soduspointlighthouse.org

May 2011Edward Jones Investments

Thank you to Marie Thomas at Edward Jones Investments, in Ontario who hosted our May 3rd Business After Hours event.  Marie established her office a little over one year ago in a renovated home on Knickerbocker Rd.  It is a warm and comfortable place to discuss important money-matters.   Marie has a long history in finance and prides herself on the fact that she can offer all the services a “big-box” investment house can but with personal service to each of her clients.  Edward Jones Investments was also chosen as Ontario’s Business of the Month for April.  Marie Thomas, at Edward Jones Investments, is truly your home-town financial advisor.

December 2011Lyons National Bank

Thank you to  for hosting our December Business After Hours event.  It was a festive Holiday gathering with many people from the Lyons Chamber of Commerce there - over 70 people were in attendance! Dan Moore, representing the WCBC Board, handed out door prizes to dozens of lucky winners, including gift baskets, gift certificates, homemade blue bird houses and Holiday music CDs.

October 2011FLCC & WCIDA

Thank you to the Wayne County Industrial Development Agency and Finger Lakes Community College Newark Campus for hosting our October Business After Hours event. Peg Churchill took a few minutes to update us on Silver Hill Associates’ commitment to development in the FLCC complex and Wayne County. Laila Paliotti shared how extensive the services are at the Newark Campus of FLCC. Many people toured the new lab at the college. As with all our Business After Hours events, there were a lot of opportunities for networking and company exposure.

August 2011ALASA Academy

Thank you to ALASA Academy for hosting our August Business After Hours event. The Academy is located on the grounds of the Beechwood State Park and many of the staff and volunteers stayed into the evening to give tours of the facili-ties. They showed off all the work that has been done to accommo-date their summer camp and what still remains to be done. The camp has deep roots in Sodus and every-one enjoyed learning its history.

June 2011Mid-Lakes Erie Marina

Thank you to Mid-Lakes Erie Marina in Macedon for hosting our June Business After Hours event.  The evening was perfect for touring the marina and having a picnic dinner by the canal.  Everyone enjoyed relaxing and socializing with other Wayne county business people – new and old.  Mid-Lakes offers extensive services for the experienced boater as well as the novice.  If you’re looking for a unique get-a-way, consider chartering a boat for a weekend or longer.  Check out all that Mid-Lakes Erie Marina has to offer at www.macedonlanding.com

April 2011Maxwell Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast

Thank you to Pat and Belinda McElroy, owners of Maxwell Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast, for hosting our April 5th Business After Hours event. We toured the cozy sitting rooms and bright cheery bedrooms of this historic home. As you make arrangements for your out-of-town guests this summer, think about having them stay at the Maxwell Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast. Thank you, also, to Chris at ROC Brewery who supplied beer samplings and “congratulations” to Bill Molinere and Marjorie Torelli of T& M Solar Solutions who won a dinner cruise donated by Sarah Wiles at Mid-Lakes Marina.
